PEWTER PLANTERS (March 2020)

For the majority of my final year, I focused on exploring sheet pewter, and how it could be used in a domestic-wares range. I really hoped to challenge the usual misconceptions of pewter containing lead, having a dull grey tinge, and only being used for traditional-wares. My final outcomes are industrial, geometric, graphic, wall-mounted planters/vases, both featuring different pressed textures. I used laser engraving to create the templates for the fly-press, and developed an ombré effect by using differing engraving depths. Both pieces feature a test-tube inside, which houses the water and the plants themselves.
